Curtain Workroom
Our in-house curtain workroom offers a wide range of quality soft furnishings from standard window treatments such as curtains, valances and soft blinds, through to fully upholstered pelmets, headboards, bedcovers, cushions and throws. You can choose between interlined curtains and blinds, or lined only. Our curtain makers are all very experienced and trained to the same high standards. All work is hand-sewn with attention to detail, and our curtains have featured in some of the country’s most prestigious addresses. We have many years experience in this field and can offer comprehensive advice on all aspects of window treatments. We love a challenge and are more than happy to discuss new ideas or awkward windows
idolum offers two levels of service:
Standard trade – you provide us with your own measurements and collect the finished work from us, having arranged the fitting yourself. Whilst we supply all associated haberdashery for lined and interlined curtains, you can choose to supply your own fabrics, or make use of our product purchasing service. All work leaves the workroom clearly labelled and wrapped in sturdy clear polythene tubing.
Trade plus – idolum undertakes the total management of your soft furnishing project from measure through to final installation. Liaising with you at each stage we will measure for, manufacture and install all treatments to your written specification and the satisfaction of both you and your client. Our team of curtain fitters are professional and efficient and are used to fitting in properties of all types. They are courteous, clean and tidy. All tradesmen we place on site on your behalf will respect the working relationship between you and your client and will never discuss design details, problems or pricing issues with clients unless you are also present and have specifically requested that they do so.
Whether you choose the standard trade, or trade plus service, our commitment to quality is the same. We understand that the appearance and standard of the finished work is of paramount importance to your reputation as a good designer so, if we are unhappy with the way a particular fabric is making-up, we will call you to discuss it. Likewise, the makers will always experiment with new fabrics or trimmings to ensure that the methods they propose to use will produce the best finish – what works well on one fabric will not necessarily work well on another. Threads and zippers are individually purchased to ensure the best possible match with the fabrics.
Should there be a problem with any of our work, and mistakes do happen albeit rarely, we will aim to rectify it as quickly as possible and with the minimum fuss and disruption to your client.
Although the majority of our work is carried out in London and the Home Counties, we are happy to travel throughout the UK and abroad and can arrange for the shipping of soft furnishings to almost anywhere in the world. Workroom lead-times are typically four to five weeks although we frequently turn around work in one to three weeks. As we prefer not to rush a job we will always advise you if we feel your stipulated time-scale will result in a compromise on quality.
